Just wanted to share this amazing review of my book, Turning Tides with you. It was written in the August issue of our local paper, The County Chronicle. This review is by Sheila Preston, someone I have never met before in my life…
Turning Tides by Kate Tulett
An artist’s eye review by Sheila Preston
THEY gave me a book to read – by a local artist, Kate Tulett – I was unnerved by the cover, a raging storm at sea, and a girl, just standing firm and determined as it washed over her – I know that feeling …. This is going to be interesting … and itโs going to be good … I opened the front cover and nearly hyperventilated …. tea stains!! Good Grief!! my OTT OCD yelled!… how the hell did that happen?
Iโve only just opened it. I havenโt even made a cup of tea! … aahhhh, it’s not for real … clever … quirky… canโt wait to turn the page … hmmm… it’s a diary of sorts…. a different page at each turn … accompanied by a wonderful, loose, colour splashed work of art describing perfectly each emotional battering, or heartwarming experience … how l envy this woman … she’s what I call a true artist … not only capable of putting her innermost thoughts, feelings, pain, delight into words, but also into her art …. and this woman has balls, she’s like so many of us who go through the drenching life soaks us with and stands facing it with all the strength she could muster at the time … because it’s what we doโฆwe have toโฆwe have kids, grandchildren, partners, people who we instinctively put before anything else …. because we’re strong and it’s our innate instinctโฆโฆ and we often donโt even realise it. We have no choice. we survive … and she has come through a hell of a lot, but had the good fortune and the amazing talent to get it all down on paper โฆ and say to herself “I’ve done good and I’m still standing, and I’m damn proud of myself!!” … I couldn’t put this book down Kate – all credit to you … it’s a brilliant read, and I so envy your ability to take time out for yourself, to sit with your acrylics and fabrics to produce these wonderful pictures that tell your story, and let that contentment wash over you as easily as your beautiful colours wash over your pages โฆ “
I want to thank Sheila, and Sue Spike at The County Chronicle, and I want to take an opportunity to thank those of you who have bought my book. It means a lot.
HUGE Thanks for your all of your support.
