The Making of Turning Tides – Illustrated Appreciations Project

Challenge Accepted! The making of ‘Turning Tides’.

For her 50th birthday, Kate asked her friends for ideas on what challenge she could take up for her 50th year. A friend challenged her to create 50 illustrated appreciations – based on something she had learnt to appreciate each week. Always one to take up a challenge, Kate set out to appreciate the little, and the big things in life and turn them into artwork… this is the result – 52 original pieces of art, that she then turned into a book.

All (52) Kate’s original “Appreciations” are available framed for £300 each. Please email kate@katetulettart.com for more information or to view the originals.

52 Weeks of Appreciations

Challenge Completed!

On completion of her challenge, Kate has turned her individual appreciations works into a book and an exhibition of originals, entitled Turning Tides, held on 21st June to coincide with the Surrey Artists Open Studio week.  The exhibition was held over the ‘summer solstice’, celebrating a moment in time, a sign of new beginnings, the mark of spiritual survival.

Kate’s appreciations are all about finding that moment every day or week to appreciate “a little life, but a powerful and brave one”.

As a spin off of the appreciations project, Kate has created a course – Developing your creativity through gratitude. Classes are held the first Thursday of every month in January.
