How it happened
A year ago, on her 50th Birthday, Kate Tulett accepted a challenge from a friend to create 50 illustrated Appreciations. 52 weeks and 52 “Appreciations” later (Kate likes to go above and beyond so she did 2 extra!), the challenge is complete and her work will be turned into a book and exhibition, entitled Turning Tides.

Turning Tides, a sign of new beginnings
“Turning Tides”, is a collection of Kate’s Appreciations, which celebrates a moment in time, a sign of new beginnings, the mark of spiritual survival.
Kate’s appreciations are all about finding that moment every day, or week, to appreciate “a little life, but a powerful and brave one”. They are empowering and appreciative of every person’s “ordinary” life and designed to promote positive mental health.
The book is designed to take you on a journey of self-discovery through the power of textiles art and writing. Through the valuable opportunity Kate experienced while undertaking the project, she developed a conscious appreciation of people, places and things that she may have once overlooked in a year where she learned to value every moment.
With beautiful imagery and captivating storytelling, Turning Tides will have you hooked from the very first page.
